Bridges are used
to replace missing teeth. Many times it is decided in the
treatment plan to replace a tooth with a bridge before the tooth
is ever extracted.

Bridges use the
one or two teeth next to the missing tooth to support the pontic
or fake tooth. In the diagram above, the bridge uses the two
adjacent teeth for support of the pontic. The teeth have the
same preparation as a crown,
as it shows in the first figure of the diagram.
In the second
figure of the diagram, the finished bridge is in place.
Usually after a bridge is placed, only your dentist can tell you
were missing that tooth!
